Start with the city program
Anaheim residents should check the current municipal bulky-item rules before paying for private removal. The city currently describes three free residential bulky-item pickups per household per calendar year, with up to 20 items per pickup.
Curbside service is different from inside removal
The city program is curbside. Anaheim states that Republic Services does not enter homes for bulky-item collection. If the project requires carrying furniture or other material out of a house, stairs or a difficult access area, that is a different labor requirement.
What to check before placing anything outside
Confirm that the items qualify, confirm the current pickup allowance, and verify where and when the items should be placed. Program rules can change, so use the city page as the current source.
When private removal may fit better
Private removal can make sense when the project involves inside labor, a larger mixed-item cleanout, difficult access or a preferred schedule. It is not a replacement for the city program, it is a different option for a different scope.
